October TBR | I’m doing #Victober

I was reviewing my reading goals for the year and discovered I only need to read 4 more novels to achieve the 20 novels I wanted to read this year… I won’t tell you I’m nearly 150 volumes of manga behind my manga-reading goal… and 90 volumes behind my comic book goal… but, I’m so close to reading enough novels! And, if I complete my October TBR, I’ll complete this goal! Isn’t completing goals amazing?!

I decided to participate in the #victober readathon. It’s a month-long readathon focusing on Victorian literature. I’ve picked a few Victorian books to read… plus, I’m adding in a few Victorian-set manga… and just one extra book that I wanted to read this month.

Check out my TBR on my YouTube:

Know of any manga with a Victorian setting? Recommend them below – If I happen to have them… or, the public library does… I’d love to add them to my TBR.

Manga TBR Shelf #40 | from Pi to Ra

I mentioned in my previous TBR shelf post that I’m creating a monthly TBR (to be read) by randomly selecting shelves from my manga room. This month, I’ve chosen shelf number 40! This contains regular sized manga from Pi to Ra.

This is one of those strange shelves where many of the series are incomplete. Several of these incomplete titles like Pieces of a Spiral are actually fairly new to the collection. They were picked up in the hopes that someday we’ll eventually be able to collect all of the volumes, and then eventually read them. But we’re not in any hurry.

I may decide to read a couple of the volume 1’s from these series, but when there are big gaps in the middle, I don’t force myself to continue.

TBR Unwrapping #2

I’d written a previous post where I talked about wrapping up my books in wrapping paper, and selecting titles randomly to read over the year. I had originally planned on making this a video series, but have since decided not to. I may talk about my prose reading on my YouTube some time in the future, but I don’t think this will be part of it… at least not this year.

But, I am still going forward with this project.

In September I wrapped up 35 books (mostly novels) in wrapping paper. In January I unwrapped 6 of them:

I’ve since read:

The goal is to keep unwrapping 6 books every other month, and to read at least 3 of the books before moving on to the next unwrapping.

Manga TBR Shelf #3

Every month (or so) I randomly choose a bookshelf from my manga room to read the manga from. There are only about 2 shelves out of around 60 that I’ve read every single volume of manga on. I read a lot of manga, but you’d be surprised by how much a person can own without reading it. In Japanese it’s called “tsundoku!”

This project has been forcing me to revisit some of these books that have sitting the longest on my shelves – it’s been great visiting some old forgotten gems.

12 Manga I Want to Read in 2018

There are so many unread titles in my collection (mostly owned by my sister) that I haven’t read yet. Every year I like to give myself a list of titles to read to make a tiny dent into that massive, and overwhelming TBR. The following are the titles I hope to prioritize reading in 2018.

I’ve given myself 12 titles to choose from. Ideally, I want to read one per month… but knowing me… I’ll be happy if I read more than 50%.

I’ve given myself a secondary challenge as well, in addition to reading them, I also want to review them all! This is a much bigger challenge, but I hope I’m up to the task. I’ve been putting these titles off long enough — 2018 is the year!
